IPv6
Acties - Actions Tools - information on IPv6 in Belgium

What will happen in Belgium ?

Across the world as many as possible will deploy and implement IPv6 in their network and organisation. This will be the first big step in the final deployment of IPv6, needed to get everyone around the globe being connected.

Belgium, being one of Europeans best cabled countries, has not yet kick-off on global level the implementation and deployment of IPv6. At residential level none of the network operators (telco's) except EDPnet are going to deploy at national level, even not at regional level. As such, it will be difficult for most of the residential users to see any changes. They still will not be enabled to access websites that run on IPv6 only.

Quote from Leslie Daigle

“The fact that leading companies across several industries are making significant commitments to participate in World IPv6 Launch is yet another indication that IPv6 is no longer a lab experiment; itʼs here and is an important next step in the Internetʼs evolution. And, as there are more IPv6 services, it becomes increasingly important for companies to accelerate their own deployment plans.”

- Leslie Daigle, the Internet Societyʼs Chief Internet Technology Officer.
