Encryption is more important than ever.
Encryption helps secure our work from home, protects the integrity of critical public health information, and keeps our communications with friends and family confidential. And yet some governments and organizations are pushing to weaken encryption, which would compromise the health and security of billions of people and nations around the world. Actions in one country that undermine encryption threaten us all.
Global Encryption Coalition Founding Statement
The mission of the Global Encryption Coalition is to promote and defend encryption in key countries and multilateral gatherings where it is under threat.
The coalition also supports efforts by companies to offer encrypted services to their users.
Encryption is a critical technology that helps keep people, their information, and communications private and secure. However, some governments and organisations are pushing to weaken encryption, which would create a dangerous precedent that compromises the security of billions of people around the world.
That’s why the Belgian Chapter join the coalition for a safer Internet for all.
As a global coalition, we call on governments and the private sector to reject efforts to undermine encryption and pursue policies that enhance, strengthen and promote use of strong encryption to protect people everywhere. We also support and encourage the efforts of companies to protect their customers by deploying strong encryption on their services and on their platforms.
